How to Organize Summer Photos Before Back-to-School Season Begins

A one-evening workflow for gathering summer photographs, removing duplicates, selecting stories, backing up files, and planning scrapbook pages.

Quick plan

Import from every phone and camera. Make a backup before deleting. Remove screenshots and accidental duplicates. Create story folders. Select five to fifteen images per story. Write one sentence in each folder while memory is fresh.

Name folders for the story

“July 12” is less useful than “Lake picnic with cousins.” Include a sortable date at the beginning if desired, then add people or place. Story names make future scrapbook planning much faster.

Select with a page in mind

Choose one photograph that explains the event, several details, and one image of people interacting. Sharpness matters, but an imperfect image may carry the only evidence of an important moment.

Create a simple production queue

Add a text note listing the page title, essential caption, paper mood, and missing information. Work on the three stories you care about most rather than attempting the entire summer at once.
