7 Halloween Collections for Different Scrapbook Moods

Quick answer: Start with the finished page size and the photos or notes you need to fit. Then compare collections for that project.

Editorial note: The designs and collection previews in this comparison are real ScrapBujo products. The featured scene was created with AI from the actual paper previews to visualize a possible project arrangement; it is not a photograph, proof of a finished print or a claim that every paper appears exactly as shown in the scene. Colors, scale and final appearance can vary by screen, printer, paper and settings.

Match the project to a collection

The full collections linked below are paid digital products; the preview images on this page are not free downloads or a ready-made page template. Use the format check to rule out a mismatch first, then compare the previews for the kind of page you sketched. A square file does not become a full-size Letter sheet just because it can be placed on a Letter page; the 12 × 12 printing guide explains the reduce, crop, and tile choices. Confirm the current downloads on the listing before selecting a page size. A preview is not a free printable file or an included template.

Sketch one project and fit it to your page

For example, plan a Halloween walk page around two landscape photos: one of the costume before leaving and one of the porch or decorations at the end of the evening. Leave room for a title, where the photos were taken, who was there, and one detail that will make the pictures meaningful later.

Sketch the page to the paper size you will use. If the album is US Letter portrait (8.5 × 11 inches), a half-inch margin on each side leaves 7.5 × 10 inches for the design:

  • Reserve a 7.5 × 1.25-inch band at the top for a short title and date.
  • Below it, leave a ¼-inch gap, then divide the page into a 4-inch photo column, a ¼-inch gutter, and a 3.25-inch writing column. The columns and gutter use the full 7.5-inch inner width.
  • Stack two 4 × 3-inch photo boxes in the photo column with a ¼-inch gap; together they use 6.25 inches of height. Keep the writing column the same 6.25 inches tall for names, place, and a short caption.
  • After another ¼-inch gap, leave a 7.5 × 1.5-inch space for the detail you want to remember. The plan uses 9.5 of the 10 inches inside the margins, leaving a little breathing room.

Keep most of the writing column plain or quiet enough for your handwriting. If a photo does not match a 4 × 3-inch opening, use a different box or crop a working copy only after checking that the important subject remains in view; never stretch the photo. Use the dimensions as a planning sketch, not a printable template or print test. A preview helps compare artwork; it does not show how large a printed element will be.

For a 12 × 12-inch square page, recalculate rather than stretching the Letter sketch: half-inch margins leave an 11 × 11-inch area. One possible arrangement is a 1-inch title band, a ¼-inch gap, a 6-inch-wide photo column with two 6 × 4-inch photo boxes stacked and a ¼-inch gap (8.25 inches total), a ½-inch gutter, and a 4.5-inch writing column; a ¼-inch gap and a 1-inch note strip fit below. With half-inch margins, the plan uses 10.75 inches of the 11-inch inner height, leaving another ¼ inch open.

For a side-by-side mood comparison using one photo, see the Gothic or Sweet Spooky exercise. It compares two paper directions with the same photo setup; this article helps plan the page and its format.

Useful next checks: calculate the pixel size for 300 DPI, then read the 12 × 12 printing guide if your project is destined for a home printer.
